election hustings

Our local community matters…and local and regional elections are coming soon! As the local church, without political party bias, we want to serve all in our local communities best we can. So to that end, we want to host and welcome all the parish & district candidates who are standing and offering to serve our community for an election hustings on Sunday afternoon 28th April, 4:30pm at St Peter’s Church, College Road, BR8 7RH.
This is an open public meeting with all welcome.
Candidates are grateful for the opportunity to address their would-be constituents. Voters are keen to hear directly from their candidates and, having been approached by a number of local individuals, and there’s great interest in hearing more about the local parish council elections set for Thursday 2nd May.
· We want access for all…
· We want all to be involved…
· We want all to be informed…
· We want our local communities to prevail!
A hustings is an open meeting with the specific opportunity for voters to meet the candidates who want to represent them in local parish and district, here in Hextable Parish Council, and in the wider Sevenoaks District Council.* This is an open and transparent opportunity to give people the chance to hear their views on a range of issues that will affect us all. All eleven local candidates have been invited to speak for 2-3 minutes, maximum 600 words, introducing themselves and the things that they are passionate about, shaping their reason to serve, and followed by open questions from the floor to the candidates, with one question each from the public. Questions are welcome in advance by email or on the day. I’ll host and moderate this event, Sunday 28th April, 4:30pm.
The flourishing of our communities matter deeply to me as your local vicar. We’ve hosted hustings in the past and they’ve been well received, and we look forward to your company again at the end of the month. We look forward to welcoming you for an hour on Sunday 28th April, 4;30pm. Any other questions or concerns do get in touch, vicarjohnny@gmail.com or 077990 72845
