Election hustings

Updated: Nov 29, 2019

Its unavoidably clear we're in the election season, and our local community matters! As the local parish church, serving without political party bias, we want to serve all in our local communities best we can. So to that end, we look forward to welcoming all the parliamentarian candidates who are standing and offering to serve as the MP for Sevenoaks. This election hustings will be held on Sunday afternoon 8th December, 4:30pm at St Peter’s Church, College Road, BR8 7RH. This is an open public meeting with all welcome.

A hustings is an open meeting with the specific opportunity for voters to meet the candidates who want to represent us in local and regional matters here in as MP for Sevenoaks, in Westminster following the years of representation by Sir Michael Fallon. This is an open and transparent opportunity to hear our political candidates views on a range of issues that will affect us all. All six regional candidates will speak for 2-3 minutes, introducing themselves and the things that they are passionate about, shaping their reason to serve, and followed by open questions from the floor to the candidates, with one question each from the public. Questions are welcome in advance by email or on the day. I’ll host and moderate this event, Sunday 8th December, 4:30pm.

We're delighted to have all six candidates contribute, and we look forward to their engagement with us.Voters are keen to hear directly from their candidates and, having been approached by a number of local individuals, there’s great interest in hearing more about this part of our General Election set for Thursday 12th December.

The flourishing of our communities matter deeply to me as your local vicar. We’ve hosted hustings repeatedly over the years at St Peter's, and they’ve always been well received.

We look forward to welcoming you for an hour on Sunday 8th December, 4;30pm.
