No public gatherings

It is with regret and sadness that our Church Wardens and myself as your parish vicar need to advise against an event to be hosted by Churches Together in Swanley District, planned and publicised for this Sunday afternoon 31st May. St Peter's and St Paul's church withdrew its membership from this network in April 2019 as a result of varied concerns. Our concerns and request to the organisers to reconsider were not successful. Whilst Pentecost is a significant date in the church calendar and the need to pray for our nation and its leaders are ever before us in these days this gathering sadly goes against all government guidelines and advice in respect of public gatherings and disregards the clear restrictions that continue to be in place and apply to all of us. As an Anglican church, we are directed and supported by our diocese in this matter. The Church family at St Peter's and St Paul's are committed to the health of the parish and its people, appropriately serving our communities, praying for our nation and its leaders and supporting our NHS by adhering to the government guidelines. Anything else is an unnecessary risk at this point. As a church family we would love to pray for you and, if you would value prayer for anything, please contact us at vicarjohnny@gmail.com. Throughout this season of Thy Kingdom Come, we have delighted again to pray and care for our community. If we can help or assist in any other way then please get in touch. Although our physical doors are closed; the church is very much alive, loving, praying and serving!
